In the early ’30s, Coco Chanel noticed the sunburst metalwork running along the balcony of her apartment at the Ritz hotel in Place Vendôme. By 1932, Paris fashion was burning for her interpretation of the emanating rays, which she worked into all sorts of fine jewelry and continued to elaborate on until her retirement.
