Letter from Reader #7 "Yves Saint Laurent Muse Briefcase"

Subject : Bag used by Ryan Seacrest
From : Adam Nowell

Hi there,

I spotted a bag in a video "A day in the life of Ryan Seacrest" that has caught my eye. The bag seems to be like a travel/business bag and it looks perfect for what I need when traveling. Please see attached pics of screen shots from the video.

Who makes this bag? Where can I get this bag? etc.

Any help you can provide is very much appreciated.

Thankyou
Adam

Subject : The best collection of Givenchy Nightingales

Hi,

You should take a look at the collection of Nightingale bags at Joan Shepp. I love them with the chain integrated in the strap and the delicate Givenchy Logo in gold. I added at pic below, but they have a few different sizes and beautiful color selection. Hope you like em!

Rachel

Dear Rachel,
i like it :) the chain on the strap is so cute!
thanks for the photo

Subject : I'm stuck...

Hey, First of all, I LOVE your blog!

Now, my problem... I am a guy, 20, 5"9 and I have wanted a Balenciaga bag for ages...
I tried out the Work bag but thought it was too small, and tried the Weekender and the size seemed fine, if not even a little big. But then, of course, I tried the Giant Weekender and that threw me right off! I love both, am looking for the bag that I will get the most use out of, so am going for Black. Which do you think is better for a guy? The Weekender or Giant Weekender? The problem I had with the Weekender is that the handles aren't as long as the Giant Weekender and so I'd have to carry it all the time. I like the Giant Weekender as the handles are long enough to go over the shoulder, but is the silver hardware a bit much, or don't you think so? I would really appreciate your advice!

Brent

Dear Brent,
I love Balenciaga weekenders, i've tried the weekender and then sold it for a work now i'm thinking of going back.
have you ever get your hands on the men's weekender? it's regular hardware and the handles are slightly longer than the regular weekender.
and i believe that balenciaga's handle will stretch over use, what i did with new balenciaga bags is i put some books inside it and hang the bag whenever i do not use it to fasten the process :p
so, i say just follow your heart, if you love the giant hardware and think you can pull it of, go for it. but if not, get the regular hardware, the handles will stretch so no worries.
personally i prefer the regular hardware on men

Each Saddleback Leather piece is built with thick, tough to sew full grain leather with clean unfinished edges that scratches beautifully (ages and patinas perfectly). Every work of leather is made by man not by automated machine. Because of that and the thickness, the seams and stitches aren't always precisely spaced, but they sure are strong. They are not perfect and that's what makes them perfect. Our craftsmen use the toughest thread around and stout rivets on all stress points. We refuse to use zippers, snaps or anything that'll eventually break. If you want a flawless mass produced pretty boy bag made for the masses, by the masses, your search is not over. You might find a small scar or two on your leather (which was the least of the bull's ill fortune). That's the beauty of full grain boot leather. Photos of these briefcases all over the world and the differences of full grain, top grain, genuine an bonded leather are on the website. These are handmade, to last longer and age better than you ever will

Subject : Lanvin Happy Sac - Stamped

Hi,

I have been browsing at this bag for a couple of months and is now thinking of buying it.
To my sadness I can't find it neither on mytheresa or brownsfashion.
I live in Sweden (Europe), so I guess that the closest place would be London or Paris.
Do you know any boutique that you can recommend in London or Paris?
I would never forgave myself if this bag turns out to be sold out every where :-(

Thanks in advanced!

Best Regards
Lan

Letter from Reader #1

As i got some letters from readers with questions on opinion of a bag, i think that it would be nice if i can post the questions and my opinion on this blog as well so people with the same questions can read it and maybe can give their thoughts too.

so, i think i'll start with this letter i receive today.

Hello, I'm going to purchase my first bag by a premier designer, and would like some advice on which ones to consider.
Id like a black basic everyday hobo or satchel. I'm very fond of the spy-bag look, but it is out of my price range. I am considering
Gucci medium hysteria tote, or Jockey hobo. I like the gold hardware. I also like the Balenciaga bags, Medium size and Jimmy Choo and Chloe bags.

What would you recommend for a first bag in the under $2k range?
I love your blog!
Thanks.

Missy McKesson

Dear Missy,

hi :)
oooh i love black bags. from what i read from your letter, personally i vote for the balenciaga from your options.
if you like gold hardware i would say the black balenciaga city with giant gold hardware is a great choice!
what i love about this bag is that the bag say "elegant" and at the same time give a rock n roll feel to it.
it says that you're modern, daring, simple but also trendy.
and the longer strap option is a big help when you want to carry it in a more relax way.
i like that the quality of the leather and it's one of the bag that'll turn more pretty the more you use them.
i also like YSL bags personally, you can pick from the downtown, muse and besace depends on your personality but IMO all of them are great.
if you happen to dress more elegant and want to carry the bag in a formal situations, the muse is the best choice whereas the downtown and besace are more "relax" and "young" looking.

so, let me what you think of these bags :)
and thank you for your letter
